Determined
I woke up this morning to a start. Deb got up and freaked me out opening the door. I got up and made my coffee and had a cup. I called my friend Tammie in New York and we talked for about an hour or so and then I got a call from my daughter. It was starting out as a pretty normal, uneventful day and then something hit me in the head. A poem I just had to write. Sitting on my porch just listening to the radio and out of nowhere comes this poem. It's like that a lot for me. I don't know why it surprises me so much. Deb has been having a lot of physical and mental issues but I felt, all of a sudden, determined that it had to be beaten. I wrote 2 poems this morning and both spoke to me of determination and perseverence. I don't know what I'm going to write till it gets on the paper usually. I know that sounds weird but I have to wait to see them just like everybody else. Here they are, enjoy.
Good Day
Here comes the dawn birds welcome the sun
The early worm gets eaten by the bird as life goes on
Priorities run throught my head as I sit and watch nature
Unfolding is the day that started with a fright
The pitch is hot but soothing to the pallet strong and hearty
Inhale the fresh wind as it blows by on its way west
A summons from the critters brings in peace and joy
The sky so blue holds promise of a great day ahead
The night was long and disturbing but bother me not
I will this day to be bright and optimistic as I can
The tunes floating on the breese are light and enjoyable
Patterns in nature thrill my tormented soul so beautiful
Friends hold conversation of news of their lives abroad
Bring me a collection of sunshiney rays to dapple my eyes
Words pour out to forms gracefully on my tablet anew
I cannot wait for fruition to show me what they say
Enjoy this day and be thankful for all you see herein
For tomorrow comes way to quickly to suit me.

Fight It
Do not be brought low by depression and worry
Strife cannot kill if you do not let it get you inside
Slings and arrows may douse the flames of life
But bring your best game to the foreground
Ahead may be a time fraught with danger and sorrow
There will be days when giving in will look so appetizing
Destroy the darkness in your mind so filling
Perish the thought of letting go to waste alas
Give it your all for tomorrow may be bright and carefree
If there is no point to life then all is for naught
But there is always a purpose for things to be this way
Be a beacon in the night to guide the way for others
And show yourself that you can win against all comers
Never give up because to fight it is a must be done
I will continue to support your every move not alone
So carry on fighting the good fight to our salvation.
